As we approach D-Day, some teams are in the running for the championship. Los Angeles Dodgers, Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves, and New York Mets have locked their respective post-season births. Dodgers and Astros are clinching their home-field advantage andr a first-round bye.

Five Teams and Their Odds For The 2022 World SeriesAs a result, they are listed as the top two favorites by different bookmakers to win the World Series. Aside from these two, there are other top teams in the running. And below is a dive into the top five teams and their odds of winning the 2022 World Series.

Los Angeles Dodgers +325

Following the Los Angeles Dodgers this season, we can see that the team is cruising. And unsurprisingly, the Dodgers were one of the top contenders for the World Series before the season began. So, they are living up to expectations by already clinching the National League West and cruising into the playoffs.

As a result, they are the favorites to win the championships. They also have the best odds among the top five teams. They’ve spent the most time as the favorites compared with other teams. They’ve scored the most runs this season and given up the fewest. So, they are the best team leading up to the off-season.

Houston Astros +400

After spending the first half of the season trailing the New York Yankees, Houston Astros have become the best team in the American League, taking the Yankees’ spot. We can all attribute this success to Justin Verlander having one of his brightest seasons, despite being 39, and the team boasting the best pitching this season.

We’ve seen the Astros make it to the World Series three times in the last six seasons, with the most recent ending in a loss to the Atlanta Braves. This season, the Astros are one of the favorites to win the title and are favorites to make it four appearances in seven seasons. And like the Dodgers, they’ve clinched the first-round bye plus home-field advantage.

New York Mets +525

The National League sees some exciting battles; although the Dodgers dominate, other teams push for a top finish. The Mets are a close second to the Dodgers and would want to maintain the gap going forward. They are a top team with historical records to show that they can dominate the league.

Although they’ve not been assertive this season, the team is pushing hard. The defending champions are only 1.5 games back with a game in hand, but the closing schedule favors the Mets. They have one of the best chances to claim the first-round bye in the National League division East.

New York Yankees +550

Every fan could attest to the fact that the New York Yankees were the favorites to win the World Series in 2022 before the All-Star break. But since returning, they’ve been struggling for form, and especially on the road, they haven’t been like the team we saw in the first half of the season.

However, they are still one of the top contenders to win the American League East. But they are far behind the Houston Astros for the best in the league. Although they’ve been struggling since the return, they have enough to lock up a bye, granting them home-field advantage in the Division Series. So, they are still in the running for the World Series.

Atlanta Braves +750

The final team on our list is the Atlanta Braves. Their +750 odds made them the fifth team most likely to win the championship, even though they started as the defending champions this season. However, it’s too early to write off the Braves, as they still have a shot at the World Series, and we can hardly put anything past the Braves.

But one thing to consider is that it has been more than two decades since we have had a team win the championship consecutively. And losing Ozzie Albies is another issue that might keep them from catching the Mets. However, there is a chance he will be back before the postseason, and as a result, the Braves would be heavy favorites to advance.
