A 74-year-old man has died after a serious assault in Co Antrim on Saturday evening. The victim, named as Tony Miskimmon, was attacked on Station Road, Antrim, and later succumbed to his injuries.
A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident and appeared in court. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) in due course.
Detective Inspector Sean Armstrong expressed his condolences to Miskimmon’s family and friends during this difficult time. “I would like to offer my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Tony at this very sad time,” Armstrong said.
The PSNI is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Miskimmon’s death. Authorities are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has information that could assist in their enquiries to come forward. Specifically, detectives are asking anyone who was in the Station Road area of Antrim between 7pm and 8pm on Saturday, November 2nd, to contact them.
“We would also urge anyone who may have dash cam or mobile phone footage to share this with us,” Armstrong added.
