Travel decisions are increasingly influenced by the stars, with a growing number of people planning trips around horoscopes and spiritual advice, according to a new survey. Booking.com’s 2026 Travel Predictions Report, which surveyed nearly 30,000 people across 33 countries, found that 47 percent of travellers would change or cancel a trip if a spiritual advisor recommended it, while 43 percent said they would reconsider travel based on a horoscope warning.

The trend is most pronounced among Gen Z and millennial travellers, who seek personalised experiences that align with their wellbeing and life stage. “Younger travellers want to disconnect and enjoy experiences in tune with themselves,” a Booking.com spokesperson said.

Spain is emerging as a hotspot for celestial travel in 2026, particularly around the solar eclipse on 12 August. Booking.com reported a surge in bookings to key locations, including A Coruña, León, and Burgos, with increases of 260 percent, 170 percent, and 120 percent respectively. Spain will also host another solar eclipse on 2 August 2027 and an annular solar eclipse on 26 January 2028. To support travellers seeking astrologically aligned trips, Booking.com has partnered with Spanish astrologer Esperanza Gracia, who advises on journeys in line with horoscopes.

Gracia said 2026 will be marked by active energies favouring short, conscious trips and exploration of less conventional destinations. She recommends locations that help travellers reconnect with emotions and find fulfilment and inner peace. Destinations highlighted include Ireland, Portugal, Italy, Scotland, the Netherlands, and Spain. Southern Europe, with its history, art, and landscapes, and northwest Europe, known for mystical sites and ancient history, are said to offer harmony and growth.

Astrological guidance also suggests destinations tailored to individual zodiac signs. Aries travellers are drawn to adventure in places like Iceland, Costa Rica, or the Canary Islands, while Taurus seeks comfort in Tuscany, La Rioja, Japan, or the Greek Islands. Geminis prefer urban and cultural experiences in London, Amsterdam, Madrid, or Tokyo, whereas Cancer gravitates toward coastal retreats such as Bali, Asturias, or the Amalfi Coast.

Leos are encouraged to visit Paris, Rome, New York, or Ibiza for history and glamour, while Virgos may find balance in the Dolomites, Pyrenees, Bruges, or Morocco. Libras are attracted to aesthetically pleasing spots like Florence, Santorini, or Kyoto, and Scorpios seek transformation in Lanzarote, Cappadocia, or the Atacama Desert. Sagittarius travellers pursue adventure in India, Nepal, or Greece, while Capricorns prefer structured, cultural trips to Rome, Salamanca, the Alps, or Menorca. Aquarians are drawn to unconventional locations such as Berlin, Reykjavik, New Zealand, or Tokyo, and Pisces look for spiritual and peaceful environments in Formentera, Bali, Kyoto, or Ribeira Sacra.

Whether motivated by celestial events or personal reflection, travellers in 2026 are increasingly seeking meaningful journeys that connect not only with destinations but also with themselves.
